Carers Week 2011
Counsel and Care attend Carers Week Reception at 10 Downing Street!
Counsel and Care, along with eight other national charities came together to organise Carers Week. This lasted from the 13th June - 19th June 2011. This year the theme was 'The True Face of Carers' which aimed to break through the stereotypes of caring and remind people that it is a responsibility that can fall on anybody.
As part of Carers Week 2011, Counsel and Care attended the Carers Week Reception at 10 Downing Street hosted by the Prime Minister, David Cameron. The event was attended by carers of all ages, the Carers Week charities and a cross section of MPs including Paul Burstow, Steve Webb, Tony Baldry and Emily Thornberry.
Carers had the opportunity to discuss the issues affecting them with MPs and party officials. The event was rounded off with a speech from David Cameron about the valuable contribution of carers to society and his own experiences of being a carer.
