small grants

Counsel and Care's small single needs grants scheme closed in August 2008.

Over the years Counsel and Care had been able to administer funds with the help of generous trusts and benevolent organisations to help older people living on a limited income and minimal savings pay for essential items and services. However, many of these organisations changed their approachto how they wish to support older people, and therefore we could no longer continue to make small grants.

We would like to thank everyone who kindly helped us with the project and apologise to those who may have been hoping to apply for grants in the future.

the ways we can still help you

We know that many older people live on a very low weekly income, and therefore can find it difficult to make ends meet. Counsel and Care can help you to make sure that you are receiving all of the benefits you are entitled to, in order to make sure that you have the maximum income possible. Our advice team can still help if:

  • You need help to find alternative charities that you could apply to
  • You are not sure if you are claiming all of the benefits that you may be eligible for
  • You think the item or service should be provided by the statutory services but you have been turned down unfairly
  • You would like to find out if you might be eligible for a grant or loan from the Social Fund.
