campaigning

engaging with policy makers

We campaign in our own right and with our partners on the issues that matter.  By engaging with policy makers and the media, we ensure that these issues are kept high on the agenda and that the public are aware of the options open to them when seeking the best care and support.

right care, right deal campaign

Right Care, Right Deal is the new national campaign launched by Counsel and Care, Help the Aged and Carers UK to build public awareness and support for the need for brave and innovative solutions for the social care system. In advance of the expected Green Paper later in 2008, Right Care, Right Deal will urge Government to renew its vision for the future of social care in England.

To show your support for the campaign and receive regular updates on how you can get involved, sign up here or call 020 7239 1984. Further information on the campaign is available here.

Read Right Care, Right Deal's latest press release and statement of intent in response to the government's launch of the debate on care and support.

We want every MP to show their support for the campaign. You can help by emailing your MP and asking them to sign EDM 1051. You can find out if your MP has signed the EDM here http://edmi.parliament.uk/EDMi/EDMDetails.aspx?EDMID=35249&SESSION=891

eligibility criteria review

Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) is carrying out a major review of the eligibility criteria that councils use to decide whether or not a person receives help from the council with social care services.

The CSCI is inviting people to have their say by sending them a written submission or taking part in their online survey. Click here to link to CSCI's online survey.

You can also click here to read more about this review on the CSCI website. It is important that as many older people, their families and carers have their say about this key issue.

care vouchers campaign

Counsel and Care is also calling for the development of eldercare vouchers for employees with caring responsibilities. Our ageing workforce has growing numbers of workers aged 45-65 plus and will have more staff with older relatives whom they care for. There are some six million carers in the UK - more than half currently work and many more would with the right support. Eldercare vouchers would be a good way of achieving this.
