There are many organisations working hard for the benefit of older people in the UK. Most of these focus on particular needs, but all have the same general aim of improving life for older people.
We have built ongoing relationships with organisations and are involved in a number of formal partnerships with other organisations . We do this in order to share knowledge and experience, and to deliver improved services.

Launched 27 August 2008, FirstStop is a new service for older people, their families and carers seeking advice on care, housing and finance. A survey timed to coincide with the launch showed that older people find accessing information about social care difficult and confusing.
FirstStop aims to become the UK's leading source of independent, clear and direct information and advice on any kind of care and support for older people, their families and carers. The Advice Line is staffed by trained Advisors in each of the four partner organisations: EAC, Counsel and Care, Help the Aged and NHFA Limited. The freephone number – 0800 377 7070 – provides access to the specialist knowledge and experience of all four teams. For more information, click here to be taken to the FirstStop
website.
Counsel and Care provides the secretariat for CCC, formerly the Continuing Care Conference, a group of organisations who have a mutual interest in providing better care for current and future generations of older people. Its members include financial services providers, advisory and advocacy services for older people, care providers and commissioners, and trade and professional bodies.
There are 26 members of CCC which include Age Concern England; Anchor Trust; ADSS; BUPA; Elderly Accommodation Counsel; English Community Care Association; Help the Aged; JRF; and Laing and Buisson.
Counsel and Care also provides the secretariat for the Coalition for Quality in Care, a group of forty organisations sharing a common concern in promoting the well being of older people receiving long term care. Its aim is to maintain and increase professional, political and public awareness of the needs, rights, and aspirations of all older people, especially the most vulnerable. Members of the Coalition include independent, voluntary and statutory providers of care, academics and health policy analysts, professional institutions and older people themselves.
Counsel and Care has joined forces with Contact4Me, a new online next-of-kin database. Contact4Me enables fast, safe global access to family and next-of-kin in an emergency via the internet, or its 24 hour dedicated call centre.
Contact4Me was started by Steven and Sue Salik, after their daughter was caught up in the July 7 bombings. Mrs Salik's mother suffered from dementia and this was an added inspiration for setting up the new service.
