mentoring and befriending foundation

The Mentoring and Befriending Foundation (MBF) provides guidance and support to over 3000 organisations and practitioners involved in mentoring and befriending. As a national strategic body MBF also works to influence policy and practice in the sector and across government.

MBF's vision is of a society where mentoring and befriending can empower all people to reach their full potential.

MBF's mission is to support the expansion of quality mentoring and befriending provision across all sectors.

MBF is committed to promoting voluntary regulation of mentoring and befriending projects through the Approved Provider Standard, the national benchmark for safe and effective practice.

The organisation has developed a national infrastructure with regional co-ordinators based in each of the nine government regions. The regional co-ordinators are responsible for influencing regional commissioners, funders and stakeholders, as well as supporting mentoring and befriending projects. MBF also runs training courses and networking events throughout England and produces a range of publications, guides, training packs and DVDs.
